Race

On Sunday, June 28, 2015, more than 300 athletes will compete in the 2015 Black Hills Triathlon in Lacey, Washington! Our 2014 race sold out, so register early!

Reviving the legacy and success of the original BHT, held in Olympia from 1980 through 2009, a team of passionate triathletes and local business and community leaders have worked hard to deliver a well-organized, high quality race. The race venue is located at scenic Long Lake Park, which offers excellent water conditions, spectator viewing and parking.
The Black Hills Triathlon is a  USAT sanctioned sprint-distance event, that attracts both seasoned competitors as well as beginners. The  swim has a wave start, from the beach (north side of dock) and circles around the lake (west side of Holmes Island) and then exits on the souoth side of the dock.
From there, athletes run up a grassy hill to the transition area, which is located in a covered barn within the Thurston County Fairgrounds, for the bike portion of the race. Once on the bike, athletes will ride out of the park on a 17 mile looped bike course on rural Lacey and Thurston County roads.
Athletes will return to the transition area and then head out for a 5 kilometer looped run which winds through a neighborhood as well as a secluded trail for about a mile in the middle of the run course.
We hope you’ll join us on race day!
